Legal requirements

In order to provide a safer working environment there are specific legislative requirements in place to protect employers and employees from potential risks associated with electricity and electrical work equipment. Every employer and self employed person has a duty to comply with legal provisions, so far as reasonably practicable.

This section is intended to guide you through the legislation relevant to In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.

Pat testing frequency

The Memorandum of Guidance on the Electricity at Work Regulations from the Health & Safety Executive suggests that regular inspection of equipment is an essential part of any preventative maintenance program Inside outside’s professional approach to this is based on the recommended frequency for Testing and Inspections, established by credible Electrical Institutions, such as the IET. (who write the Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment) and the NIC. highly regarded National Inspection Council covering electrical installations, as well as our own experience of Testing and Inspecting in various types of business environments.

Regular annual Testing for the majority of businesses has proven, in our experience, to consistently reduce the risks associated with portable electrical equipment and its wiring.
